About ST MAN
From a NPR 4,000 mobile phone to music that reaches millions.
Sangay Tamang, known as ST MAN, is a Nepali rapper, singer, songwriter, producer and composer. In 2017 he officially began his journey in Nepali hip-hop, driven by a vision that many people around him could not yet see. He later founded Nepal Hip-Hop Records, creating a platform for his own work and for the emerging artists around him.
But his journey began with almost nothing. Without a laptop or professional equipment, he recorded his earliest songs on a Chinese mobile phone worth around NPR 4,000, and at just 17 taught himself to make beats and record music from tutorials on YouTube. He learned everything on his own.
